Maastricht University to improve recycling methods in Maastricht

UM are going to place 875 new bins at dozens of locations in Maastricht. These bins encourage a better separation of paper, plastic and general waste. The new waste separation system brought in by the university aims to reduce general waste from 55% to 45%.

UM students and staff each produce an average of 20 kilograms of waste annually, last year totalling almost 727,000 kilograms. This is a step towards the university's goal of becoming climate neutral by 2030.
